Chiropractors Take up The Challenge

Scotland 2017: Coast to Coast Rat Race

On Saturday the 9th of September Beach House Chiropractors, Dr Theo and Dr Georgia, alongside approximately 950 other competitors set out on a two day adventure across the North West Coast of Scotland. Their challenge: complete 105 miles of running, cycling and kayaking in two days, across the breathtakingly beautiful, rugged and treacherous terrain of the Scottish Highlands. Beginning in Nairn and finishing in Ballachulish. This was a challenge to test not only their physical prowess but their mental and emotional resilience as well.

Day one consisted of: 7 mile run, 48 mile on-road cycle, 1 mile run/kayak

Day two consisted of: 21 mile off-road cycle, 13.5mile on-road cycle, 14 mile trek/run, 1 mile kayak

Our brave Challengers were blessed with fine weather on Saturday. Beautiful sunny skies, cool breeze, not too hot but just right. They camped overnight at Fort Augustus, Loch Ness before setting off on Sunday morning into far more inclement weather than the previous day. The day started rather overcast, quite chilly but not too windy, it developed into showers which lasted for 10-30 minute intervals, one shower in particular heavy enough that it felt more like hailstones. The 14 mile trek/run was more consistent with forging through streams than hiking hills, but wet-footed and chilly aside, our Challengers did not give in.

The various challenges which faced the stalwart souls who competed were met and overcome with aplomb. Warm, dry clothes awaiting one at the finish line, definitely a good motivator to keep on moving. The views were absolutely amazing, the terrain harsh but not impossible, the physical demand high but manageable and the sense of achievement at the end, well, I guess you’ll have to ask them!

Thanks to everyone who sponsored Theo & Georgia, your generosity is greatly appreciated!
