Is IDD Therapy effective?
Yes. We have had over 100 patients go through the programme and the results are significant. We measure success through the VAS pain score and Oswestry Disability Index which shows how patients have improved. Beyond these measures we receive post-treatment surveys that record improvement. We also invite patients to give their IDD story through video and written testimonials. Many of these can be found on our website.
Will the effects of treatment last?
The treatment programme is designed to put patients onto a path of long term healing. As we progressively restore spinal function, the body’s natural healing mechanisms can operate and maintain the spine and this is the route to long term pain relief. Long term improvements can be maintained with ad-hoc follow-up treatments and following the exercise plan.
Is treatment safe?
The treatment is natural and very safe. Our initial assessment dictates a personal programme of treatment, designed just for you. The team who supervise treatment have been specifically trained and all hold approved qualifications. Your treatment progress is overseen by a Senior Chiropractor and Physiotherapist.
What is the difference between IDD Therapy and traditional traction?
IDD therapy was developed to address the failings of traditional traction to treat targeted spinal segments. Whereas traction delivered a general pulling force to the spine, IDD Therapy is able to focus distraction or pulling forces to a specific level of the spine. Many problems are located at specific levels and the ability of IDD to focus treatment at the effected level is what separates IDD from traction. It also combines the pulling force with a gentle mobilisation, all part of a process to restore function and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate.
Are there any age restrictions?
Treatment is suitable for patients over the age of 18. This is when growth plates are fully formed. There is no upper age limit although we will assess suitability for treatment on an individual basis.
Will I need a course of treatment?
Yes. Patients have a programme of treatment. This is how IDD works. We divide the programme into stages of adaptation and progression. Spinal issues that have built up over time leave spinal segments stiff and immobile. Muscles and ligaments which have become weak and inflexible need time to adapt as treatment progresses. A course lasts for 6-8 weeks and covers 20 treatment sessions.
How long is treatment?
You will be in the clinic for up to one hour. Treatment begins with ten minutes of deep penetrating heat to warm tissues. You are on the IDD Therapy machine for 26 minutes and we cool the treated area for ten minutes after treatment.
How much does the IDD Therapy Programme cost?
Treatment forms part of a 20-visit programme and is charged at the equivalent fee of £75, payable as a course. Patients have the option to pay for the programme in one, two or four stages. Our programme includes 2 Physiotherapy Rehab sessions at no extra cost. IDD is far cheaper than more invasive Spinal Injections or Surgery. The initial clinic consultation is £59.
Do you offer payment options?
We offer three payment options. A full course payment of 20 sessions pre-paid attracts £100 discount when paid in one single instalment. The course fee payment can also be split into two equal monthly payments of £750 or four monthly payments of £375.
Do I need to have X-rays or an MRI?
IDD is suitable for many spinal conditions but there are some conditions that can only be accurately diagnosed with an X-Ray or MRI. An MRI will help guide exactly which discs we need to focus on with IDD treatment. If you already have images we can assess these. Our IDD specialist can refer you for an MRI locally if you don’t already have one. We can explain more during the consultation.
